Arundel, June 21, 2023 – Regarding the referendum approval process for by-laws numbers 290.1 to 290.49 prohibiting the PRE uses throughout the territory of the Municipality of Arundel (except in the Pa-10 zone), adopted on May 16, 2023, here are the results of the register held on June 16.
As certified by the Director General/Treasurer at the regular council meeting of June 20, 2023, the number of signatures required to hold a referendum vote was reached in the following 10 zones:
Af-38, Af-39, Af-39-1, Af-40, Ag-30, Ag-31, Ag-35, Pa-32, Vi-33 and Vi-34
By-laws for other zones are deemed approved.
As for the by-laws covering these 10 zones, a referendum vote may be held in the coming months TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT PRE SHOULD BE AUTHORIZED (OR PROHIBITED) IN THE SECTORS RELATED TO THESE ZONES. Council may also decide to abandon these by-laws and thus not hold a referendum. Council will make its decision in July 2023.
Arundel, June 6, 2023 – At the municipal council meeting held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Municipality of the Township of Arundel continued the by-law process aimed at PROHIBITING the use of Principal Residence Establishments (PRE), in 49 zones of its territory. The next step concerns the register of qualified voters. This will take place on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Town Hall, located at 2, rue du Village in Arundel.
If I wish to have the Principal Residence Establishment (PRE) use authorized in my principal residence, I will sign the register.
Persons eligible to vote must sign the register, in person, if they wish this type of short-term rental to be offered in their principal residence, in those in their sector or in a contiguous sector, if the case may be.
If I do not wish to have the Principal Residence Establishment (PRE) use authorized in my principal residence: I will not sign the register.
Persons eligible to vote who do not wish this type of short-term rental to be offered in their principal residence, or in those in their sector or in a contiguous sector, if the case may be, must not sign the register.
Thereafter, if the Municipality of the Township of Arundel does not wish to hold a referendum vote, it may choose to withdraw the by-laws that concern the zone where the required number of signatures has been received. In such a case, residents of these zones will be able to offer this type of short-term rental in their principal residence.
