Elizabeth Vezina: The Raging Grannies

The Raging Grannies are activist organizations, consisting primarily of older women but not necessarily grandmothers who work to promote social justice, global peace and protection of the environment. With such a mandate, they are very busy women. They dress up in clothes that mock stereotypes of older women, and sing songs at protests. They take their issues very seriously but not themselves. The first Raging Grannies “gaggle” started over 25 years ago and the movement has spread all over the North American continent.

Elizabeth has been a resident of the area for more than 20 years and now resides here permanently. She joined the Montreal Raging Grannies 5 years ago and life has not been the same since. Her presentation on the grannies includes “Who are the Raging Grannies,” “Why They Rage”, “How They Rage”, and “What is Their Message for the Younger Generation”. The presentation includes many funny videos and pictures that demonstrate the effectiveness of their outrageous protests.
